It has been almost three years since I dedicated a few minutes to write to you, whoever "you" are. My life has changed a bit in those three years. Most importantly, I'm a mom now!!!
MOM. What a simple word?! So simple and yet so important. I'm now responsible for another human being. Every action I take will shape this little person in every way. Every word, every reaction, every. single. thing. will shape this little person.
This new blessing has me thinking constantly about what will he remember. What can I do that will impact this little mind in a positive way? He will learn his habits, and everyday living from me (and his dad). It is my responsibility to teach him to care about his environment and his peers. It is my responsibility to teach him to be the change he wants to see.
I never really gave much thought about how little minds see my actions until becoming a mom. Will they copy them? Will they scoff at them? I'm a role model even when I don't realize it. I don't only shape my little one's mind and heart but every single child's I come in contact with on a daily basis.
Yikes!!!! This is a huge responsibility. It can seem a bit overwhelming, right?! It is okay. We can do this. We can shape the world to care by doing so ourselves. Those little minds are sponges and they absorb every. single. thing. we do even when we don't realize they are watching.
